Undergrowth

 

Sometimes you cannot see the trees for the wood, so go lose yourself inside, lose yourself in the little details. The tiny cities of lichen that make a map of a weather-beaten hunk of rock. The sticky slow bleed of glistening sap oozing from a tree trunk.  Old rusted railings casting striped shadows on a slab of quarry stone. The delicate skeletal fronds of a desiccated fern. 

I know what you're thinking. How romantic. 

Seriously. Find your piece of nature, even be it just a scrap, and dig deep. Crawl through the silent undergrowth. Get your knees muddy, your shins barked and your back bent.  Go deep into the overgrown. Explore...
